The Adani Group is reportedly in discussions with global ride-sharing giant Uber to introduce electric passenger cars onto its platform. According to a  report, the partnership aims to leverage Adani Group's electric vehicle (EV) expertise and Uber's extensive network to promote sustainable mobility solutions across the country.

The talks unfolded during a meeting held on February 24 between Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, and Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, who is currently visiting India.

Sources suggest that the discussions encompassed the integration of Adani's electric cars into Uber's ride-hailing service, potentially under Adani One, the conglomerate's umbrella brand launched in 2022.

Following the meeting, both Adani and Khosrowshahi took to social media to express their enthusiasm about the collaboration. Adani, in a post on X, praised Khosrowshahi's commitment to empowering Indian drivers and hinted at exciting future ventures.

Similarly, Khosrowshahi lauded the discussion as "absolutely terrific," emphasizing Uber's dedication to expediting the EV transition in India.

Uber has been vocal about its ambition to transition its entire fleet to electric vehicles by 2040, aligning with global sustainability goals. The company recently introduced Uber Green, an eco-friendly ride service, in Delhi as part of its zero-emission mobility commitment.

Meanwhile, the Adani Group has pledged a monumental $100 billion investment over the next decade, with a significant focus on energy transition initiatives. This includes plans to establish 10 gigawatts of solar manufacturing capacity and develop large-scale solar farms to harness solar energy.

The conglomerate is venturing into battery swapping and EV charging infrastructure to support the burgeoning electric vehicle ecosystem.

Khosrowshahi's visit to India coincided with Uber's signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) on February 22. This strategic partnership aims to broaden Uber's mobility offerings through integration with ONDC's platform, facilitating access to safe and affordable rides for all Indians.
