Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani on Sunday visited key project sites in Jharkhand and Bihar, reviewing power infrastructure investments exceeding Rs 40,000 crore that underscore the conglomerate’s growing footprint in eastern India.
In tribal-dominated Godda district of Jharkhand, Adani inspected operations at the 1,600 MW ultra-supercritical thermal power plant, developed at a cost of over Rs 16,000 crore. The facility supplies electricity exclusively to Bangladesh under a long-term power purchase agreement, lending it significant cross-border economic importance.
The plant has generated thousands of direct and indirect jobs and improved rail connectivity in the region, a company spokesperson said.
In neighbouring Bihar, Adani reviewed progress on the planned 2,400 MW ultra-supercritical power project at Pirpainti near Bhagalpur, which involves an investment of more than Rs 27,000 crore. The project is slated for commissioning over the next four to five years and is designed to meet rising industrial and urban power demand in the state.
Adani Power Ltd (APL), the country’s largest private sector thermal power generator, secured a Letter of Award (LoA) in August 2025 from the Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd (BSPGCL) for a 25-year long-term electricity procurement arrangement.

These initiatives position the Adani Group as one of the largest private sector infrastructure investors in Jharkhand and Bihar—states historically under-served by large-scale industrial capital despite rich natural resources.
During the visit, Adani interacted with engineers, technicians, and frontline workers at the Godda plant. He also met tribal women from surrounding communities, reflecting the group’s focus on local engagement.
Earlier in the day, Adani visited the historic Baba Baidyanath temple in Deoghar district, Jharkhand, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas and a major pilgrimage site. Amid tight security, he performed rituals at the sanctum sanctorum with assistance from priests, offering bel leaves, sacred water, and participating in Vedic chanting.
Speaking to reporters after the darshan, Adani said, “It was a long-pending desire to pray at Babadham. I prayed for the prosperity and well-being of the nation.”
Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar attracts lakhs of devotees, particularly during the holy month of Shravan, and remains one of eastern India’s most revered spiritual centres.
