Air India has extended the suspension of its flights to and from Tel Aviv until April 30, 2024, citing ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
The airline, which typically operates four weekly flights between the national capital and the Israeli city, made this announcement on Friday.
An Air India spokesperson stated, "Air India flights to and from Tel Aviv will remain suspended until 30th April 2024, in view of the emerging situation in the Middle East. We are continuously monitoring the situation."
Passengers with confirmed bookings for travel to and from Tel Aviv during this period are being offered a one-time waiver on rescheduling and cancellation charges.
This decision comes after the airline temporarily suspended its flights to Tel Aviv on Sunday amid escalating tensions in the region.
The Middle East has witnessed heightened tensions following attacks by Iran on Israel and subsequent retaliatory responses.
Air India had previously resumed services to Tel Aviv on March 3, following a suspension that began on October 7, 2023, in response to an attack on the Israeli city by the Hamas group.
The Tata group-owned carrier's decision reflects ongoing concerns about the security situation in the Middle East, with Air India prioritizing the safety and well-being of its passengers amid the geopolitical tensions in the region.
