Post the merger, the vintage 'Maharaja' will be retained through the frequent flyer programme of the integrated entity.

Air India announced on Friday that Vistara’s routes, schedule, and in-flight experience will continue post-merger, with flights operated by Vistara planes being rebranded under the 'AI2' code.

The merger of the two full-service carriers is set to be completed on November 12, after which Singapore Airlines will hold a 25.1% stake in Air India.

Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Group and Singapore Airlines, will retain its service standards, including routes, schedules, and in-flight amenities like menu and cutlery.

Post-merger, Vistara’s frequent flyer members will be transitioned to Air India’s Flying Returns programme, which will rebrand as the 'Maharaja Club.'

Vistara flights will now be identified by a four-digit Air India code starting with '2' (e.g., UK 955 will become AI 2955).

Air India reiterated that the Vistara customer experience will remain intact after the merger, addressing concerns about service consistency.

Vistara’s livery will remain for a period of time, and the merged airline will incorporate the best practices of both carriers, according to Vistara Chairman Bhaskar Bhat.

The Air India-Vistara merger, announced in November 2022, marks a significant step, with Singapore Airlines taking a 25.1% stake in the combined entity.
