Ather Energy, a manufacturer of electric two-wheelers, announced on Wednesday that it has teamed up with Google to provide real-time availability updates on two-wheeler fast charging stations for electric vehicle users.
Through this collaboration, EV users with the Light Electric Combined Charging System (LECCS), the official Indian EV charging connector standard, installed on their two-wheelers will be able to locate 'Ather Grid' fast chargers on Google, along with live status updates of the chargers, as stated by the company.
Chargers equipped with LECCS will be visible when searching for 'EV charger near me' or 'charging stations' on Google Maps. Additionally, whenever a new charger is installed, it will be added to Google Maps.
Ather Grid's fast-charging network for electric two-wheelers is built on the indigenously developed LECCS, which has been approved for nationwide adoption by the Bureau of Indian Standards, according to Ather Energy.
The new standard was introduced last year as a significant step towards establishing a universal standard through interoperability, thus facilitating broader adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
Ather Energy reported that as of March 30, 2024, 1,973 fast chargers are already accessible to the public.
