Quick-commerce platform Blinkit, owned by Zomato, announced a new collaboration with Sony on Thursday to sell PlayStation 5 consoles on its platform. Scheduled for release on April 5, the gaming console will provide gamers with a convenient buying avenue and swift delivery service.
This partnership follows Blinkit's recent ventures into the rapid delivery of consumer electronics. Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa revealed the news in a post on X, stating, "PlayStation 5 on Blinkit. Launching tomorrow."
The much-awaited PlayStation 5 Slim is priced at Rs 54,990, and the digital edition is priced at Rs 44,990.
Earlier this year, Blinkit joined forces with Samsung to facilitate the delivery of the newly launched Galaxy S24 series across Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, and Mumbai, promising delivery in less than 10 minutes for eligible customers.
In a bid to expand its offerings, Blinkit also partnered with Unicorn, an Apple premium reseller, last year, enabling customers in Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru to have 'Make-in-India' iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models delivered to their doorsteps.
Despite its widening array of partnerships, Blinkit reported mixed financials for the fiscal year 2023. Revenue from operations surged to Rs 724.2 crore from Rs 236.1 crore in the previous fiscal year, while losses also increased by 8.2 percent, reaching Rs 1,078.9 crore.
Zomato acquired Blinkit for $568 million in an all-stock deal, marking a significant move within the e-commerce landscape.
