Prioritising Indian consumer preferences, the Japan-based Casio Computer Co Ltd has launched its first set of ‘Made in India’ watch models, in keeping with its 2023 announcement to make India a priority market and start local manufacturing here.
While the company has so far started the sale of three locally-manufactured models through a third party, several other models are in the pipeline, the firm said in a statement, calling it a “milestone” moment that “aligns with Casio’s efforts to enhance product availability, support national manufacturing goals, and respond more intuitively to Indian consumer preferences”.
"India has always been a priority market for Casio, and we continue to see immense potential for growth here. By manufacturing locally, we are better equipped to design and deliver products that truly resonate with the Indian mindset and lifestyle," said the company’s Managing Director, Takuto Kimura.

The move will not only deepen Casio’s footprint here, but also mark a strategic and symbolic step that enables the brand to become more agile in the youth-centric Indian market that continues to evolve quickly in terms of fashion and consumer expectations.
Casio had first entered the Indian market in 1996. It is widely known for its durable and affordable watches, particularly the G-Shock series, its innovative calculator watches, as well as its electronic musical instruments and other electronic devices.
