The National Consumer Helpline (NCH) has facilitated a refund of Rs 7.14 crore to consumers in the last two months from retailers, including e-commerce players.
The Department of Consumer Affairs said on Friday that the helpline helped in addressing 15,426 consumer grievances related to refund claims across 30 sectors from April 25 to June 30. The NCH has been playing a crucial role in resolving consumer grievances swiftly and amicably without resorting to litigation. The helpline is also supplementing the role of consumer forums and commissions.
The department said the maximum 8,919 grievances were from the e-commerce sector, where the refund was also the highest at Rs 3.69 crore. It said consumers can register their grievances on the helpline in 17 languages through toll-free number 1915. They can also file a complaint through the Integrated Grievance Redressal Mechanism (INGRAM), an omni-channel, IT-enabled central portal.
