Delhi Finance Minister Atishi presents budget for 2024-25 fiscal year, themed around 'Ram Rajya' in Assembly today

Minister Atishi highlighted the government's  commitment to education, infrastructure, and welfare. She noted significant progress, including the construction of 11,000 new classrooms in nine years, with 21.57% of the budget allocated to education.

Delhi's Finance Minister, Atishi Marlena, announced the budget with an outlay of 76,000 crore for the 2024-25 fiscal year in the Assembly, incorporating the theme of Ram Rajya.

Delhi government Finance Minister Atishi Marlena with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal arrived at Vidhan Sabha to present the budget for the financial year 2024-25, during the ongoing Delhi Assembly budget session in New Delhi.


Delhi's Finance Minister, Atishi Marlena, announced the budget with an outlay of 76,000 crore for the 2024-25 fiscal year in the Assembly, incorporating the theme of Ram Rajya. Atishi expressed government's commitment to realizing the ideals of Ram Rajya, symbolizing good governance and equitable development.

 

Prior to presenting the budget, Minister Atishi sought blessings from senior AAP leader and former deputy CM Manish Sisodia's family, emphasizing unity within the party.

 

The Budget session, which commenced on February 15 and extended until March 8, marks one of the longest assemblies under the AAP government. Last year, in Sisodia's absence due to his arrest, the budget was presented by Kailash Gahlot.

 

This year's budget marks the 10th presentation under the AAP government, with Minister Atishi Marlena presenting her first budget since joining the government in March last year.

 

Highlights of the Budget:

 

1. The budget, based on Ram Rajya principles, addresses diverse needs, notably introducing the "Mahila Samman Yojana," offering Rs. 1000 per month to women above 18.

 

2. Minister Atishi noted significant progress, including the construction of 11,000 new classrooms in nine years, with 21.57% of the budget allocated to education.

 

3. Atishi praised efforts of AAP government in serving people, she outlined various policies and initiatives aimed at the welfare of delhi residents, highlighting significant transformations from 2014 to 2024, including growth of delhi’s economy, doubling of per capita income, establishment of schools improvements in infrastructure, and provision of free medical care to the underprivileged.

 

"Delihiites have placed their trust in him for his integrity, electing Arvind Kejriwal as the chief minister with a resounding majority, all the lawmakers gathered here draw inspiration from Lord Ram, hence, we have collectively pledged to realize the vision of ‘Ram Rajya’ in delhi" stated Atishi.
