The directorate general of civil aviation(DGCA) has reported a surge in aircraft induction, marking a 51% rise in 2023. With 16 airlines actively operating a fleet of over 771 aircrafts, the aviation industry in India is gearing up for a transformative year, as the DGCA discloses it's ambitious plans for 2024 and beyond.

The DGCA in an official statement, has highlighted it's proactive stance, expressing readiness to foster regulatory capabilities to expedite approvals associated with aircraft installations. Currently endorsing 16 Air operator certificates(AOC), the regulatory body is keen on facilitating scheduled commuter air transport services, paving way for a smoother induction process.

In addition, DGCA has sanctioned the induction of 21 aircraft through wet/damp lease arrangments in 2023.

The reported substantial rise in the induction in 2023, with scheduled operators adding 112 aircraft to their fleet, is a testament to industry's growth trajectory. When accounting for a 21 wet-samp lease aircraft, the total soared to 133, marking a remarkable 51% escalation compared to the preceding year while significantly bolstering the aviation market capacity.

Looking ahead, the DGCA aims to build upon the momentum by further augmenting regulatory capacities to accomodate the anticipated surge in aircraft inductions in 2024.

In response to the market dyamics, DGCA remains agile, responding to capacity constraints by sanctioning wet/damp lease inductions. This approach showcases the authority's commitment to ensuring uninterrupted services and mitigating operational challenges faced by airline operators.

Experts suggest, a robust aviation sector translates into broader economic gains. They further affirm that, DGCA's initiatives in expanding the aviation markets aims to empower travelors while contributing to substantial economic growth spanning sectors in trade, tourism and overall market expansion.
