The teach giants, who have not responded to the development yet, are understood to have been called by the ED to understand how such illegal platforms are able to place advertisements on their social media and communication links.
The directorate is probing multiple platforms hosting illegal betting and gambling links, and has a number of celebrities and sports persons under its scanner.
Instances of advertisements placed for illegal betting links on various internet-based social media outlets and app stores have been traced by the agency, which accuses these platforms of cheating innocent people of their hard-earned money and also evading taxes worth crores of rupees while parking these funds in off-shore accounts.
