Tech billionaire Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, is reportedly planning a visit to India later this month to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and announce significant investment initiatives as the country intensifies its push towards electric vehicle (EV) adoption.
Official confirmation of Musk's visit from either the entrepreneur himself or his electric car company is pending.
According to Reuters, Musk is scheduled to meet PM Modi during the week of April 22 in New Delhi. It is anticipated that Musk, alongside other senior Tesla executives, will announce his mega investment plans and potentially announce the establishment of a $2-3 billion manufacturing plant in India.
Musk views Tesla's entry into India and the search for factory sites as a "natural progression," emphasizing his belief that all vehicles will eventually transition to electric power.
Highlighting the inevitability of electric vehicles, Musk stated, "All vehicles will go electric, and it is just a matter of time."
Reports suggest that Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu are among the prime locations Tesla is considering for EV manufacturing and potential vehicle exports.
PM Modi extended an invitation to Musk during his visit to the US last year, urging him to explore investment opportunities in India's burgeoning e-mobility sector.
