The combined market capitalisation of four of the top-10 most valued companies surged by ₹2.20 lakh crore in a holiday-shortened trading week, with Reliance Industries emerging as the biggest gainer, according to data from stock exchanges.

The gains came despite a broadly volatile and range-bound market, where the benchmark BSE Sensex advanced 249.29 points, or 0.32 per cent, over the week.

Market analysts attributed the movement to a mixed set of global and domestic cues, with easing geopolitical tensions and steady progress in fourth-quarter earnings providing early support, while gains were later capped by rising crude oil prices, weak Asian market trends and sustained foreign institutional investor outflows.

Reliance Industries alone contributed a substantial share of the gains, adding ₹1,39,655.8 crore to take its market valuation to ₹19,36,303.30 crore, reinforcing its position as the country’s most valued firm.

Bharti Airtel also saw strong momentum, with its valuation rising by ₹43,503.51 crore to ₹11,49,222.13 crore. Tata Consultancy Services gained ₹27,569.83 crore, taking its mcap to ₹8,94,933.95 crore, while Bajaj Finance added ₹9,432.32 crore, reaching ₹5,83,123.13 crore.

On the losing side, six major firms saw a combined erosion of ₹1.24 lakh crore in market value. HDFC Bank, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever and Life Insurance Corporation of India all ended the week in negative territory.

ICICI Bank’s mcap fell by ₹45,364.62 crore to ₹9,04,980.78 crore, while State Bank of India lost ₹30,922.57 crore, closing at ₹9,85,829.96 crore. HDFC Bank declined by ₹20,951.31 crore to ₹11,87,274.17 crore.

Hindustan Unilever shed ₹18,420.79 crore, LIC dropped ₹8,222.49 crore, and Larsen & Toubro saw a marginal dip of ₹178.83 crore.

Despite mixed performances across sectors, Reliance Industries retained its position as the most valued domestic company, followed by HDFC Bank, Bharti Airtel, State Bank of India, ICICI Bank, Tata Consultancy Services, Bajaj Finance, Larsen & Toubro, Hindustan Unilever and LIC.
