Farmer producer organisations (FPOs) and artificial intelligence (AI) can help farmers prosper and aid in the country’s agricultural development, said Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, at an event on Sunday.
FPOs are collectives of farmers formed to enhance their bargaining power, reduce costs, and improve income through collective action in production, procurement, and marketing.
Emphasising on their need for the progress of cultivators, Gadkari added that all the problems of the food producers must be solved at commissionerate level in districts through farmer producer companies.
“We need to form an organisation/apex body of farmer producer company for the progress and development of farmers. Through such a company, they can utilise agriculture equipment, tractor, harvester and other things and it will make it easy to pay loans,” he said at the Agrovision India workshop held in Nagpur.

The Union minister also informed visitors about the various initiatives taken by Agro Vision to improve agriculture pattern and crop diversification.
