GCMMF's turnover grew 8% in 2023-24 to ₹59,445 crore, and it handled 310 lakh litres of milk daily last year, with a processing capacity of 500 lakh litres.

The Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation Ltd. (GCMMF), which markets dairy products under the Amul brand, is expecting double-digit revenue growth this fiscal year, driven by robust demand, its Managing Director Jayen Mehta said.

The co-operative posted an 8% increase in turnover for the 2023-24 financial year, reaching ₹59,445 crore. It had recorded total demand of nearly ₹60,000 crore last year.

In an interview , Mehta said demand has been strong across all product categories, including fresh milk, cheese and ice cream, during the first eight months of the 2024-25 fiscal year.

“We are expecting double-digit growth in turnover,” Mehta said when asked about the revenue outlook for the current financial year.

GCMMF, the world’s largest farmer-owned dairy cooperative, handled an average of 310 lakh litres of milk per day in the last fiscal year. Its total annual milk processing capacity stands at approximately 500 lakh litres.

As part of its expansion plans, GCMMF announced a ₹11,000 crore investment to enhance capacity through both greenfield and brownfield projects. "We have already invested 80% of our planned ₹11,000 crore capex," Mehta said.

The federation continues to prioritise the welfare of farmers, with 36 lakh farmers from 18,600 villages in Gujarat contributing to its operations through 18 member unions, which collectively procure 300 lakh litres of milk daily.

Asked about its organic food business, Mehta said it is performing well, with the co-operative launching several organic products.

GCMMF ranks eighth among the world’s top 20 dairy companies in terms of milk processing, according to the International Farm Comparison Network (IFCN). In addition to serving the domestic market, GCMMF exports dairy products to around 50 countries.

Earlier this year, the co-operative expanded its global footprint by entering the U.S. market, launching four fresh milk variants to cater to the Indian diaspora and wider Asian population.
