The government is planning to sell tomatoes at subsidised rates to curb a sudden surge in their prices after the crop and roads got damaged due to the ongoing flashfloods in Himachal Pradesh, impacting its availability in the plains.
The price of tomatoes has crossed ₹60 per kilogram in retail markets in the Delhi-NCR region in recent days, even doubling the rate, as per traders in Delhi’s Azadpur and Sahibabad areas.
