India’s Goods and Services Tax (GST) collection reached ₹1.96 lakh crore in July, marking a 7.5 per cent increase year-on-year, according to government data released on Friday.
This follows a collection of ₹1.85 lakh crore in June.
In April 2025, India’s GST collections had surged to a record high of ₹2.37 lakh crore, registering a 12.6 pc rise.
As per the latest data, India’s gross domestic revenue grew by 6.7 pc to ₹1.43 lakh crore in July, while revenue from imports rose 9.5 pc to ₹52,712 crore.
Refunds under GST increased sharply by 66.8 pc year-on-year to ₹27,147 crore. The net GST revenue for July 2025 stood at ₹1.69 lakh crore, recording a 1.7 pc rise compared to the same period last year.
In the Union Budget, the government projected an 11 pc increase in GST revenue for the financial year, estimating total collections at ₹11.78 lakh crore, which includes Central GST and the compensation cess.
