The Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri was present at the curtain raiser of India’s Energy Week here at New Delhi on Monday, briefing the media about the much anticipated 2nd edition of the India Energy Week (IEW) being held from February 6th to Februaru 9th, 2024.
While addressing the press conference he said, “India today on the energy front presents the picture of confidence of positive growth of solutions in many areas. India Energy Week(IEW), represents a golden opportunity to showcase these developments on the energy front and provide a platform for further growth and development in the energy sector”
The week serves as a dynamic platform for stakeholders to converge, exchange ideas, and showcase groundbreaking innovations in the energy sector.
"With an impressive lineup, IEW 2024 is set to welcome 17 Energy Ministers from diverse nations, alongside over 35,000 attendees and a remarkable cohort of more than 900 exhibitors", said Hardeep Singh Puri. Notably, the Minister revealed plans for six dedicated country pavilions representing Canada, Germany, Netherlands, Russia, UK, and USA, amplifying the event's international stature.
A standout feature of IEW 2024 is the introduction of a special Make in India Pavilion, spotlighting over 300 exhibitors showcasing innovative solutions spearheaded by Indian Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the energy domain. This initiative not only provides a platform for domestic players to exhibit their prowess but also facilitates engagement with global markets.
Emphasizing the scale-up from its inaugural edition, IEW 2024 anticipates a 30% surge in exhibitors, reflecting the growing traction and significance of the event on the global energy landscape. The expansion extends to the exhibition area, witnessing a 25% increase, translating to a substantial 46% rise in revenue from the exhibition segment.
The Minister highlighted the surge in private sector sponsorship, with an 81% increase in total revenue from private firms and a notable 44% rise in the number of private sponsors, indicative of robust industry support and endorsement.
Further, to enhance engagement and knowledge sharing, IEW 2024 extends its duration to four days, featuring a diverse array of sessions, including 46 strategic sessions and an equal number of technical sessions—more than double compared to the previous edition. Noteworthy is the significant increase in technical submissions, doubling from 1000 to 2000 papers, reflecting heightened interest and engagement across the sector.
Furthermore, IEW 2024 introduces four new technical categories aligned with domestic priorities, encompassing Shipping, Logistics & Supply Chain, Manufacturing & Industrialization, Future Mobility, and Mining & Minerals, underscoring India's evolving energy landscape and strategic imperatives.
The Minister also spotlighted Avinya, an Energy startup challenge organized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, aimed at nurturing and showcasing innovative solutions from startups in the energy domain. Five startups have been selected from a competitive pool, offering mentorship opportunities and a platform to showcase their cutting-edge solutions at IEW'24.
In addition to the main agenda, IEW 2024 will feature an array of side events covering critical themes such as Global South Cooperation, Carbon Capture and Utilization, and high-level dialogues including the PM's roundtable with Oil & Gas CEOs and India-US investment roundtables.
In his concluding remarks, the Minister highlighted the pivotal role of biofuels and green hydrogen in India's economic trajectory, emphasizing the imperative for sustainable energy solutions to fuel the nation's growth aspirations.
With India's GDP poised to surpass $4 trillion and ambitions to reach a $5 trillion economy by fiscal year 2025, IEW 2024 assumes heightened significance as a catalyst for steering India towards a sustainable energy future.
