Mercedes-Benz launched the first-ever all-electric Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV in India today at INR 2.25 crore.

German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz India has expressed optimism about India becoming one of the top five markets for its Maybach brand in terms of sales volume.

At the launch of the electric version of its first-ever all-electric Mercedes-Maybach, the EQS 680 SUV, on Thursday, the company’s managing director and CEO, Santosh Iyer, said the new model demonstrates the firm’s ambition to lead in digital and electric mobility, particularly in the ultra-luxury segment.

The Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV is priced at Rs 2.25 crore (ex-showroom, all India).

“We are now among the top 10 markets globally in terms of sales. We have sold over 1,500 Maybach models across the range,” Iyer said. He added that India’s potential for growth in the luxury car market could soon see it climb into the top five markets for Maybach sales.

Mercedes-Benz is also leading the push for luxury electric mobility in India, with five Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) now available, including the EQA, EQB, EQE SUV, EQS sedan, and the newly launched Maybach EQS 680 SUV.

“With the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, we redefine automotive excellence in the era of electromobility. Our aim is to continue expanding our top-end luxury offering while focusing on sustainability,” Iyer said.
