India has become the world's largest data market, with Reliance Jio leading the charge as a global mobile data giant, according to Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani.
Addressing the 47th annual general meeting of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL), Ambani highlighted Jio's rapid growth, noting that the company now serves 490 million customers who use an average of over 30 GB of data per month.
He stated, "Thanks to Jio, India is now the world's largest data market. Today, Jio carries nearly 8 per cent of global mobile traffic, surpassing even major operators in developed markets."
Ambani also emphasised Jio's pioneering role in the telecommunications sector, revealing that the company has filed 350 patents related to 5G and 6G technology. "In just eight years, Jio has grown to become the world's largest mobile data company," he added.
Jio's contribution to India's position as a data leader underlines the country's expanding influence in the global technology landscape, driven by high demand for mobile data services.
