Officials at the infrastructure major Larsen & Toubro (L&T) announced on Wednesday that its Power Transmission and Distribution (PT&D) division has secured fresh orders in the Middle East for the development of extra-high voltage substations. According to the company, the contracts involve the construction of one 380 kV substation and two 132 kV substations.
In a regulatory filing, L&T stated that these high-capacity substations are designed to provide reliable electricity supply to major load centres while easing pressure on existing power grids, helping meet rising energy demand in the region.
The engineering giant did not disclose the precise value of the contracts. However, under the company’s internal classification system, ‘significant’ orders are generally valued between Rs 1,000 crore and Rs 2,500 crore. L&T said the projects have been awarded on a turnkey basis and must be executed within strict timelines.
