Modi's address steers India Energy Week 2024

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the India Energy Week 2024


Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India Energy Week 2024 in Goa today.

 

The India Energy Week is India’s largest and only all-encompassing energy exhibition and conference, bringing together the entire energy value chain to catalyse India’s energy transition goals.

 

In Modi’s inaugural address, he welcomed everyone to the second edition of the India Energy Week, while expressing enthusiasm, he said “The event is taking place in the energetic state of Goa, which is known for the spirit of hospitality and natural beauty, the place itself leaves a profound impact on tourists from around the world. Goa is touching new heights of development”

 

The Prime Minister said “The growth rate is higher than the global growth estimate making India the fastest growing economy in the world”, highlighting upon the International Monetary Fund’s prediction of similar trends in the future.

 

“India is the world’s third largest energy, oil and LPG consumer. The nation is the fourth largest LNG importer and refiner along with the fourth largest automobile market” He further mentioned, rising demand of EV in the country, he also underlines the efforts to ensure affordable fuel.

 

While addressing the Viksit Bharat, Viksit Goa 2047 programme as part of the India Energy Week he mentioned, “Amidst the increasing energy demand, India is also ensuring affordable energy in every corner of the country, India is a nation where despite global factors, the prices of petrol and diesel have come down in the last two years”

 

Modi further added, “By 2070, we want to achieve net zero emissions target, India would soon become the production and export centre for green hydrogen”

 

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, in her interim Budget announced a capex of Rs 11.1 lakh crore for FY 25, an increase of 11.1 percent from the preceding year. The Prime Minister iterated that India has achieved 100 per cent electricity coverage, electricity had been provided to crores of homes and country was making it’s presence felt in the energy sector on the world stage.
