The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) announced Friday that it has moved up the release time for Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimates by 90 minutes to 4 p.m.
Previously, GDP press releases were issued at 5:30 p.m. on scheduled release dates, MoSPI said in a statement. The shift aims to provide users, media, and the public with more time to access GDP data on the release day.
MoSPI said the new timing aligns with the closing hours of India’s major financial markets, ensuring that the release of GDP data does not interfere with active trading sessions. The change also reflects the Ministry's commitment to enhancing transparency and accessibility in data dissemination.
The GDP estimates for the second quarter (July–September) of the 2024-25 financial year will be published on Nov. 29 at 4 p.m. on the Press Information Bureau’s website and the Ministry’s official site.
