In a significant move to simplify pension processes for senior citizens and pensioners across India, Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Friday launched a new, streamlined pension application form.
The initiative merges nine separate forms into one unified 'Form 6A,' which Singh unveiled via video conference.
"The new form aims to simplify the process for pensioners, reducing the need to handle multiple forms and cutting down on the time and effort required," said Singh, Minister of State for Personnel.
The new approach is expected to benefit millions of senior citizens, providing them with a more straightforward way to manage pension-related matters. Singh emphasised the government's commitment to empowering the elderly and harnessing their experience for national development.
"This initiative reflects our ongoing efforts to improve systems that directly impact the lives of our elderly population," Singh said. He added that the government is dedicated to ensuring seniors enjoy their later years with dignity and peace of mind, while contributing to the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India).
The launch of the simplified form and the digital integration of Bhavishya with e-HRMS marks a significant milestone for the Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare, which has been actively reforming to better serve senior citizens.
Bhavishya, an online system, allows users to track pension sanctions and payments and download their Pension Payment Order (ePPO). eHRMS, or the electronic Human Resource Management System, maintains the service records of government employees.
Singh also noted the success of a special campaign addressing family pension grievances, which has achieved a 96 per cent redressal rate, resolving many long-pending cases involving dependent minor children, disabled daughters, widows, and war veterans.
The minister explained that retiring officials who are on e-HRMS will complete Form 6A through the system, while those not on e-HRMS will use Bhavishya. The form submission will be simplified to a single electronic signature via Aadhaar-based OTP.
"This step is not just about convenience; it’s about valuing the time and experience of our elders and ensuring they can live hassle-free lives," Singh added.
