Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has greenlit a significant allocation of Rs. 3549.48 crore for the construction and strengthening of various National Highways projects in Madhya Pradesh.
This announcement, made through a post on social media, highlighting the government's commitment to enhancing connectivity and infrastructure development in the state.
A substantial portion of the allocated funds, amounting to Rs. 776.19 crore, has been earmarked for the 4-laning of a 41 km stretch of National Highway-146 B.
The project, operating under the Hybrid Annuity Mode, will span from Shahganj Bypass end to Badi Package-IV in Sehore and Raisen districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Gadkari emphasized that this corridor's development aims to reduce travel time to key cities such as Jabalpur, Bhopal, Betul, and Indore. It will establish crucial connections between urban nodes through National Highway (NH) and State Highway (SH) networks, along with other vital city roads. The construction of bypasses for traffic on National Highways and State Highways is expected to enhance road safety by limiting commercial traffic movement within towns.
An additional Rs. 1238.59 crore has been sanctioned for the creation of a 6-lane service road on both sides of the Ayodhya bypass. Stretching from Asharam Tiraha on National Highway-46 to Ratnagiri Tiraha on National Highway-146 in Bhopal, this project, operating under hybrid amputee mode, will connect National Highway-146 and National Highway-46, providing essential connectivity to Bhopal Airport.
The expansion to a 6-lane road is anticipated to alleviate congestion in the Ayodhya Bypass/Bhopal city and enhance traffic management on National Highways, thereby reducing accidents through the segregation of local and commercial traffic within the city.
In a bid to further augment the road infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh, Gadkari has also granted approval for the construction of a 34 km long Chasale 6-lane Indore Western Bypass under the Hybrid Annuity Mode. Priced at Rs. 1534.70 crore and falling under Package-1, this bypass is set to significantly reduce traffic congestion in Bandur city and enhance road safety by redirecting commercial traffic away from the city center.
