Union minister for commerce & industry, consumer affairs, food & public distribution and textiles, Piyush Goyal inaugurated the “Indus food 2024”, to showcase India’s vibrant and diverse food ecosystem.
Piyush Goyal accentuated the 150% growth in processed food exports over the last nine years. While pointing Narendra Modi’s vision, he said “The time has come for a fusion of technology and taste, the need for large food processing, product branding, and export focus to enhance values for farmers, generate employment and boost country’s earnings”
The minister acclaimed the success of food security initiatives of the government, namely, “Pradhan Mantri Karib Kalyan Anna Yojana”, which aims to provide free food grains to 81 crore people, while guaranteeing zero starvation deaths in the nation.
Goyal highlighted India’s economic strengths, as striving for the fastest growing economy, with solid macroeconomic foundations, boasting a youthful demographic dividend. He recommended the industry to focus on frozen, packaged and ready-to-eat foods, urging the need for skill development, university exchange programs and startups in the sector.
Addressing the seventh edition of Indus food, held at India exposition mart, Greater Noida, The minister praised the persistent success and remarkable achievements of this exhibition, while revealing the imminent plans for India global culinary exchange, welcoming 20 international chefs equipped with country’s finest culinary excellence.
In addition, Goyal also emphasized on the ongoing Aatmanirbhar Bharat Utsav at Bharat Mandapam and announced the Bharat Mobility in the upcoming month and Bharat Tech to be held at the end of February 2024.
