PM Gati Shakti: Three infrastructure projects worth Rs 9,600 crore recommended for approval

Under the PM Gati Shakti initiative, three infrastructure projects of roads and railways, collectively valued at Rs 9,600 crore, have been recommended for approval. This significant development comes as a boost to the nationwide effort towards integrated infrastructure development and reducing logistics costs.

The recommendation for these projects, assessed during the 64th Network Planning Group (NPG) meeting held on October 17, marks a pivotal step towards comprehensive development in the transportation sector. Chaired by Special Secretary (Logistics), Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Sumita Dawra, the meeting deliberated on proposed greenfield projects from the Ministry of Railways and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.

The PM Gati Shakti initiative aims to foster an integrated infrastructure framework, ensuring multi-modality and synchronization of efforts for holistic development. All logistics and connectivity infrastructure projects exceeding Rs 500 crore are channeled through the NPG for appraisal and approval. Subsequently, clearance from the NPG is a prerequisite before seeking approval from the Public Investment Board (PIB) or the Department of Expenditure under the finance ministry.

Over the past two years, the NPG has played a pivotal role in assessing over 131 infrastructure projects, fostering comprehensive socio-economic development across various regions. Among these projects, the Ayodhya Bypass Project emerged as a critical endeavor during the 52nd NPG meeting.

The Ayodhya Bypass Project, spanning 67.57 kilometers, is a greenfield initiative encompassing the construction of both northern and southern bypasses. With a total length of 35.40 kilometers for the northern bypass and 32.172 kilometers for the southern bypass, the project is strategically positioned to enhance connectivity across key districts such as Lucknow, Basti, and Gonda.

This infrastructure undertaking is poised to significantly improve connectivity to vital economic, social, and logistical hubs, including tourist and pilgrim sites, within the aforementioned districts.

The Ayodhya Bypass Project demonstrates PM Gati Shakti initiative's commitment to fostering robust infrastructure development nationwide.
