"This reduction in LPG cylinder prices by ₹100 aligns with our 'ease of living' policy, aimed at ensuring a better and more sustainable lifestyle for every individual," PM Modi stated, emphasizing the holistic approach towards empowering women and promoting an environment conducive to their well-being. In a step directed towards offering support to countless households, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proclaimed a decrement of ₹100 in the pricing of cooking gas cylinders for all patrons on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The decision, impacting 316 million households across the nation, was announced as a tribute to the strength and resilience of women, popularly referred to as 'Nari Shakti'.

In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday morning, PM Modi expressed the government's commitment to easing the financial burdens faced by families. He underscored the importance of making essential commodities more affordable, particularly for women, in line with the government's overarching objective of enhancing the quality of life for all citizens.

The announcement follows closely on the heels of another welfare measure unveiled by the central government on Thursday.

It involved extending the subsidy of ₹300 per LPG cylinder to economically disadvantaged women enrolled in the Ujjwala Yojana for the upcoming fiscal year starting April 1.

In response to Modi's announcement, state-run oil marketing companies have confirmed their intention to implement the reduction in cooking gas rates imminently. An executive from a public sector oil company, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that the companies are awaiting directives from the oil ministry to proceed with the adjustment.

Currently, a 14.2 kg cooking gas cylinder is priced at ₹903 per unit in Delhi. However, following this reduction, the price will stand at ₹803, offering much-needed relief to consumers.

For beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), the revised cost per cylinder in Delhi will be ₹503 after accounting for the ₹300 per unit subsidy.
