Priya Sachdev Kapur appointed non-exec director of Sona Comstar

Wife of late Sunjay Kapur, Priya Sachdev Kapur, has been appointed the non-executive director of Sona Comstar by the company’s shareholders

Shareholders of auto components firm, Sona BLW Precision Forgings Limited (Sona Comstar), approved the appointment of Priya Sachdev Kapur, wife of former chairman Sunjay Kapur, as a non-executive director with requisite majority.

The decision was made in the annual general meeting of the company that was held on July 25, a company regulatory filing stated.

Priya has been appointed as an Additional Director in the capacity of Non-Executive Director with effect from June 23, 2025, it informed.

Sunjay Kapur, chairman of Sona Comstar, had passed away in London on June 12 while playing polo. Following his demise, the company's board unanimously appointed Jeffery Mark Overly as the chairman on June 23, 2025.

Meanwhile, family disagreements surfaced after Sunjay’s death when his mother, Rani Kapur, alleged in a letter to the board dated July 24 that while the family mourned the death of Sunjay last month, “some people chose this as an opportune time to wrest control and usurp the family legacy”.
