Rapido launches "SawaariZimmedariKi" initiative to offer free rides to differently abled and senior voters

Voters residing in Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Mangaluru will benefit from this initiative, with free rides available to and from voting points on April 26.

To promote inclusive civic engagement during the General Elections 2024, the ride-hailing platform Rapido announced "SawaariZimmedariKi" initiative on Wednesday.

 

Under this initiative, Rapido pledges to provide complimentary bike taxi, auto, and cab rides to differently-abled and senior citizen voters across Karnataka.

 

The initiative, aims to ensure that all eligible voters, regardless of their physical abilities, can conveniently exercise their democratic rights. 

 

Voters residing in Bengaluru, Mysuru, and Mangaluru will benefit from this initiative, with free rides available to and from voting points on April 26.

 

To avail themselves of the complimentary rides, eligible voters can simply use the code ‘VOTENOW’ while booking their rides through the Rapido app.

 

The initiative is a collaborative effort between Rapido, the Election Commission of India (ECI), and the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP).

 

In a statement addressing the initiative, Rapido's Co-founder, Pavan Guntupalli, said, "We are proud to collaborate with the Election Commission of India and BBMP to champion civic engagement by extending free auto and cab rides to differently-abled and senior citizen voters in Bengaluru," said Guntupalli.

 

Guntupalli added, "Our aim is to ensure that every eligible voter, regardless of their physical limitations, can participate in the democratic process without any hindrance."
