Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has announced that the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted an operating licence to the Rewa airport, marking a significant boost for the Vindhya region's economic and regional connectivity.
“With this development, Madhya Pradesh will now have six operational airports, including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Gwalior, and Khajuraho,” Yadav said in a release on Monday night. He added that the new airport will enhance economic activity and expand regional connectivity in the state.
“The Rewa Airport will be a milestone for the development of the Vindhya region under the motto ‘Developed India-Developed Madhya Pradesh’,” Yadav continued. “The DGCA has granted the licence to commence operations for both passenger and cargo flights.”
The airport is expected to improve access to various cultural and historical sites and stimulate trade, employment, and tourism in the area.
Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, a native of the Vindhya region, expressed his enthusiasm about the development. “The dream of air travel for citizens in the Vindhya region is becoming a reality. The operation of Rewa Airport will provide a new direction for the region’s economic, social, and cultural growth,” Shukla said in a statement on Tuesday.
Shukla also extended his congratulations to the people of the Vindhya region and the entire state of Madhya Pradesh, thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, and Chief Minister Yadav for their contributions to the achievement.
