Skoda Octavia to return to Indian markets this Nov

The Czech automaker’s comeback with Octavia, two years after it was discontinued, will start with pre-bookings in October with only 100 units coming in in 2025

News Arena Network - Mumbai - UPDATED: September 25, 2025, 03:01 PM - 2 min read

Octavia was the company's first model in India, which was later discontinued it in 2023

Skoda Auto India is all set to re-launch its premium sedan, Octavia, in India this year, the company confirmed on Thursday.

The Octavia RS would be the Czech automaker’s sportier version, said a senior company executive, adding that the fully-built unit (FBU) would be brought in in limited volumes.

While pre-bookings for the model start next month from October 6, only 100 units would be imported in 2025. Deliveries of the car can be expected in November, said the company official.

Octavia was the company's first model in India which was later discontinued it in 2023.

Skoda Auto India’s Brand Director, Ashish Gupta, said the company’s foray in India has completed 25 years and can be defined by its most-sold model – the Octavia.

“What better way to celebrate the unique 25-year legacy in India of the Octavia but with the pinnacle of Skoda's engineering, and that is the Octavia RS?” he added.

The automaker is importing the model into India under the GSR 870 rule, Gupta said, which means the company needs to have a UK or a Japan specification.

"So our cars are UK spec, but made in the Czech Republic," he shared, and said there are no discussions yet for assembling car parts locally.

The sales performance of the company so far in the current fiscal, says Gupta, has been satisfactory.

In August, the automaker sold 46,600 cars as compared with last year, when it sold 35,000 cars.

"So this is a big jump for the brand in terms of sales volume, and the biggest months that are expected to have huge sales are September to December, which have just started," he added.

The company aims to double its market share in the country, Gupta said.

The automaker had a market share of less than 1 per cent in the domestic passenger vehicle segment at the end of last year.
