Elon Musk's Starlink must adhere to all regulations to secure a licence for its services in India, Union Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia stated on Tuesday.
The minister noted that the satellite internet provider is in the process of fulfilling the necessary requirements, and a licence will be granted once this is completed.
“They (Starlink) must comply with all rules to obtain the licence. It’s also important to consider this from a security standpoint. They are working on it, and once all requirements are met, they will be issued the licence,” Scindia told reporters.
He was responding to a query regarding the status of Starlink's licence.
Currently, the government has granted licences to Bharti Group-backed OneWeb and the Jio-SES joint venture, Jio Satellite Communications.
