Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held a meeting with United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Economy and Tourism Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri and his accompanying delegation to discuss ways to further deepen bilateral economic cooperation across trade, investment, tourism and connectivity.
Sharing details of the meeting in a post on social media platform X, Goyal said the discussions focused on expanding the India-UAE partnership and identifying new opportunities for businesses in both countries. He also reaffirmed the shared commitment to strengthening economic ties and advancing the strategic partnership between the two nations.
"Had a productive meeting with Mr. Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism of the United Arab Emirates, along with the accompanying delegation," Goyal said. "We discussed avenues to further strengthen the India-UAE partnership across trade, investment, tourism and connectivity, while reaffirming our shared commitment to unlocking new opportunities for businesses, enhancing people-to-people ties and advancing our strategic economic partnership," he added.
The meeting comes at a time when India and the UAE are steadily expanding their economic relationship across a wide range of sectors. Bilateral trade, investment flows and greater business-to-business engagement have emerged as key pillars of the partnership.
The UAE is one of India's important trading and investment partners in the Gulf region. Over the years, economic cooperation between the two countries has expanded significantly beyond traditional trade in goods.
The two sides are now working closely in areas such as logistics, infrastructure, technology, financial services, energy, manufacturing and tourism. The growing cooperation reflects the broader strategic importance of the India-UAE relationship and the increasing role of private businesses in driving bilateral economic ties.
Connectivity was also a key area of focus during the meeting. India and the UAE have been working to improve the movement of goods, capital and people, with enhanced connectivity expected to further support trade and investment activity.

Greater cooperation in tourism is also likely to strengthen people-to-people ties and provide additional opportunities for the services sector. The two countries have a strong flow of business and leisure travellers, and increased collaboration in the sector could further boost economic engagement.
Goyal's meeting with Al Marri assumes significance as both countries seek to build on the momentum in their strategic economic partnership. The discussions are expected to support efforts to identify fresh areas of cooperation and create a more conducive environment for businesses and investors.
The two ministers also discussed the importance of unlocking new opportunities for the private sector. Greater business collaboration is expected to help expand investment flows and support economic growth in both countries.
India and the UAE have continued to strengthen their relationship through high-level engagement and expanding economic cooperation. The latest meeting further reaffirmed the shared focus on broadening the partnership beyond existing areas of collaboration.
The discussions in New Delhi are likely to contribute to efforts aimed at deepening trade and investment ties, improving connectivity and encouraging greater cooperation in emerging sectors. Both sides remain focused on building a stronger and more diversified economic partnership capable of creating new opportunities for businesses and strengthening the broader strategic relationship between India and the UAE.
