US President Donald Trump announced on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Saturday that both the European Union (EU) and Mexico will face 30 per cent tariffs on their goods exported to the US from August 1.
The EU had hoped to reach a comprehensive trade agreement with the US for the 27-country bloc.
