Today marked the inauguration of the 3-day National Dairy Mela and Agricultural Exhibition at Chaibasa in the West Singhbhum district of Jharkhand, graced by the presence of Minister of Tribal Affairs, Agriculture, and Farmers Welfare, Arjun Munda. This event, serving as a platform to introduce the latest technologies in dairy science to farmers, holds significant promise for the advancement of agricultural practices in the region.
Addressing the gathering, Munda emphasized the importance of adopting scientific methods in agriculture and cattle rearing to enhance milk production. He underscored the significance of the event, stating that while the nation is making strides in agriculture, the region still lags behind. However, with concerted efforts, the aim is to propel agricultural activities in the area forward. Notably, this marks the first such event in Jharkhand, organized by the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, Haryana, on the land of Kolhan.
Expressing gratitude to farmers for their invaluable contribution to the economy, Munda urged them to avail themselves of government schemes such as PM Fasal Bima and PM Kisan Samridhi. During his visit to the exhibition stalls, the Union Minister interacted with Farmers Producer Organisations (FPOs) and local farmers, acknowledging their role in achieving self-reliance in food production.
Dhir Singh, Director of the National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal, highlighted the significance of the event in expanding innovative agricultural technologies, particularly in livestock production management and dairy processing, in alignment with the vision of a developed India by 2047.
The event, part of the 'Amrit Kaal' Utsav, has attracted over 6 thousand participants including cattle rearers, farmers, input dealers, entrepreneurs, students, and government officials. It showcases technologies developed by various research institutes and district-level departments, offering insights into agricultural advancements.
More than 50 exhibition stalls featuring agricultural technologies, livestock, and animals have been set up, providing a comprehensive view of the sector's potential.
In addition to exhibitions, the event includes a beauty contest for advanced breed animals and animal health medical camps.
