Union Minister Scindia inaugurated Fly91 regional airline, promises enhanced connectivity

Union Minister for Civil Aviation and Steel, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, inaugurated Fly91, a new regional airline, and marked its maiden flight between Manohar International Airport (MOPA), Goa, and Agatti Islands, Lakshadweep. The inaugural flight, a momentous occasion, signifies the government's commitment to expanding air connectivity and bolstering the aviation industry.

 

Addressing the gathering during the inauguration, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia emphasized the transformative changes witnessed in the aviation sector under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 

 

He lauded the efforts that have led to the establishment of six new regional airlines, marking a departure from past challenges of closures and bankruptcies.

 

Highlighting the multidimensional growth of civil aviation in the country, the Minister reiterated the government's dedication to bridging the gap between tier 2 and tier 3 cities through the UDAN scheme. He articulated the industry's ambitious target to elevate domestic air traffic to 30 crores by 2030, a significant leap from the 6 crores recorded in 2014.

 

Fly91 announced that scheduled flights would commence operations from March 18, 2024, connecting Manohar International Airport, Goa, with key destinations including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Jalgaon, Agatti, Pune, and Nanded. Additionally, flights from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Pune to Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Nanded, and Goa will be introduced in a phased manner.

 

These new connections are set to meet the rising demand for enhanced connectivity across the nation, fostering tourism, facilitating trade and commerce, and aligning with the government's vision of providing affordable, punctual, secure, and seamless travel experiences for passengers.

 

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Fly91 Chairman, Harsha Raghavan, Asangba Chuba Ao, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and other officials from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Ministry of Civil Aviation.
