The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organised the National Conclave titled 'VIKSIT BHARAT@2047: Viksit Bharat & Industry' at Hotel Shangri-La Eros, Janpath, New Delhi on Tuesday.
The conclave served as a platform to explore India's developmental trajectory and its interdependent relationship with industry as the country looks ahead to the year 2047.
The gathering witnessed the presence of figures including Nirmala Sitharaman, Minister of Finance & Corporate Affairs, Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports, SK Pathak, Secretary General of FICCI, and Anish Shah, President of FICCI & Group CEO & Managing Director of Mahindra Group.
Addressing the audience, Nirmala Sitharaman delivered a speech, underlining the significance of nurturing a prosperous future for India's youth. She articulated a vision of resilience and progress, stating, "It is our duty to provide the coming generation with a better India, a better India that offers opportunities for our youth so that they can proudly say, 'everything lies here and I feel proud to be here.'"
Highlighting the historical resilience of Indian industry, Sitharaman acknowledged its ability to thrive despite adversities, including those imposed by colonial rule. She emphasized, "Indian industry always aligned with national interest and continued to grow even against severe odds posed by imperial colonial rulers."
"The new government will be formed after the general elections due in April-May and the BJP is confident that Prime Minister Modi will return to power with a greater majority", the minister added.
Sitharaman said that India has moved up to become the fifth largest economy and is on the way to become the third largest global economy. The minister asserted that several reforms were undertaken by the government during the last 10 years and the trend will continue.
She pointed that the reforms to be undertaken by the next Modi government will touch on factors of production.
