SP has positioned candidates in 11 Lok Sabha seats, while Congress contenders are on the ballots for Kanpur and Sitapur seats.

Today marks the commencement of polling for the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh, encompassing 13 crucial parliamentary constituencies.

Among these, all eyes are on the prestigious Kannauj seat, where SP president Akhilesh Yadav is seeking re-election, and Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni, contesting from Kheri, stands as another prominent candidate in the fray.

The constituencies witnessing polling include Shahjahanpur (SC), Dhaurahra, Sitapur, Hardoi (SC), Misrikh (SC), Unnao, Farrukhabad, Etawah (SC), Kanpur, Akbarpur, and Bahraich (SC), with a total of 130 candidates vying for victory in this phase.

In Kannauj, a closely watched battle unfolds between SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and sitting BJP MP Subrat Pathak, while in Unnao, incumbent BJP MP Sakshi Maharaj faces competition from SP's Annu Tandon.

Notably, the BJP has shown faith in 11 sitting MPs by fielding them again, while introducing new candidates Ramesh Awasthi and Anand Kumar in Kanpur and Bahraich-SC, respectively.

SP has positioned candidates in 11 Lok Sabha seats, while Congress contenders are on the ballots for Kanpur and Sitapur seats.

Among BJP candidates, Union Minister Teni, Rekha Verma, Mukesh Rajput, and Devendra Singh alias Bhole are aiming for a hat-trick, with Rajesh Verma seeking a fifth term from Sitapur.

Additionally, Ashok Kumar Rawat and Ram Shankar Katheria aspire for their fourth term from Misrikh (SC) and Etawah (SC), respectively.

Over 2.46 crore voters are eligible to cast their ballots in this phase, which also includes a bypoll for the Dadraul assembly constituency in Shahjahanpur district.

The seat became vacant following the demise of BJP MLA Manvendra Singh on January 5, prompting a contest among ten candidates in the assembly by-election.election
