The US presidential election is set to go down the wire; it will be the seven states that will determine the outcome of the democratic candidate Kamala Harris, 60, and her rival former President Donald J. Trump, 78.
Among the most contested states are Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, which have a total of 93 electoral votes.
The swing states are those states where both parties have the same size of support and are considered the determining states.
Swing states, or battleground states, are those that can shift momentum between Democratic and Republican support in the election.
With 93 seats up for grabs, candidates have focused extensively on these swing states during their campaigns to woo voters and secure crucial electoral votes.
Among the crucial states, Pennsylvania has emerged as the most important one for the highest number of 19 Electoral College votes.
Apart from Pennsylvania, two other states, Michigan and Wisconsin, are equally important as they are crucial for Harris’s path to victory Known as the "Blue Wall.”
These three states were historically democratic strongholds until Donald Trump in 2016 flipped all three into Republicans’ favour, breaking the Democrats' winning streak in the region.
However, during the 2020 US presidential elections, these states were for the Democrats, although by narrow margins.
