The BJP took a swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday, criticising its interpretation of a regular bail granted to its leader, Sanjay Singh, in the Delhi excise policy case.

BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla highlighted the distinction between routine bail and a clean chit, emphasising that the AAP's celebration of Singh's bail did not equate to exoneration by the Supreme Court.

Poonawalla pointed out that Singh's bail did not imply vindication of the AAP's leaders, particularly Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in the alleged scam.

Following the Supreme Court's decision to grant bail to Sanjay Singh, the AAP hailed it as a victory for democracy, asserting that it exposed the purportedly baseless nature of the accusations against him.

However, the BJP countered this narrative, asserting that the grant of bail did not absolve the AAP of allegations of corruption. Poonawalla underscored that the Enforcement Directorate's lack of opposition to Singh's bail did not signify a clean chit, challenging the AAP's stance on probe agencies' actions.

The BJP further questioned the AAP's stance on the matter, asking whether the party now acknowledged Kejriwal's involvement as the "kingpin" of the alleged scam.

With Singh's bail, the BJP argued, the AAP could no longer claim victimisation by probe agencies, signalling a potential shift in the party's rhetoric regarding political vendettas. BJP leaders emphasised the impartiality of the judiciary and investigative agencies, highlighting Singh's bail as evidence of fair legal proceedings.

Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva echoed these sentiments, attributing Singh's bail to the judiciary's commitment to due process. He emphasised that bail was granted according to legal norms, not due to external pressures or biases.

Sachdeva framed Singh's bail as a lesson for opposition leaders, emphasising that legal outcomes were determined by law, not by political affiliations or government influence.

In summary, the BJP's response to the AAP's celebration of Sanjay Singh's bail reflects broader political tensions and differing interpretations of legal proceedings.

While the AAP perceives the bail as a victory and exoneration, the BJP maintains a cautious stance, highlighting the complexities of the legal process and refraining from premature conclusions.
