In the upcoming third phase of the Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to exercise his franchise at Nishan Higher Secondary School in Ahmedabad. The school has been readied to function as a polling booth for the election day.

To raise awareness about the importance of voting, a 'Run for Vote' marathon took place in Ahmedabad on Sunday morning. This event, organised as part of the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) drive, aimed to encourage youth participation in the electoral process and ensure maximum voter turnout on May 7.

Ashok B Patel, the Joint CEO of SVEEP, highlighted the significance of the marathon, stating that its purpose was to motivate the youth to cast their votes in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections.

The Election Commission has been actively promoting voting awareness campaigns to enhance voter participation in the ongoing Lok Sabha election. In Gujarat, where the BJP secured victories in all 26 seats in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha polls, efforts are being made to further boost voter engagement.

In the current election, the Congress has formed an alliance with the AAP in Gujarat, with plans to contest from 24 seats, while the AAP will contest in Bhavnagar and Bharuch constituencies.

Voting for 25 out of the 26 seats in Gujarat is scheduled for the third phase of the general elections on May 7. The constituencies include a wide geographical spread across the state, encompassing regions such as Kutch, Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, and many others.

However, Surat will not witness polling as BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was declared elected unopposed last week. This decision followed the rejection of Congress candidate Nilesh Kumbhani's nomination and the withdrawal of other candidates from the contest.

The election results for Gujarat and other constituencies will be announced on June 4, marking the conclusion of the electoral process.
