Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav accused the ruling BJP of being "worried" about losing power as he criticized the party for allegedly "misusing" probe agencies to target the opposition.
Speaking to reporters at the airport ahead of the INDIA Bloc rally at Ramlila ground, Yadav asserted, "The BJP is worried that it is going (out of power). While we (opposition leaders) are coming to Delhi today, the PM is going out of Delhi. This shows who is going out (of power)," referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally scheduled in Meerut later in the day.
Yadav also took aim at the government's electoral bonds scheme, labeling it as a "new invention" and accusing the BJP of using investigative agencies such as the ED, CBI, and IT to secure donations.
Regarding the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Yadav claimed, "The BJP is being criticized across the world for arresting Arvind Kejriwal," emphasising the perceived international backlash against the ruling party's actions.
He further pointed out, "It proves the government can do what it wants. Hemant Soren went to jail, Arvind Kejriwal went to jail... There are allegations on all opposition leaders, and the loot the BJP is doing in Uttar Pradesh, the way corruption is being done, would there be any action?"
The INDIA Bloc, a coalition of opposition parties, is organising a 'Save Democracy' rally at Ramlila Maidan, seen as a demonstration of strength and unity in light of Kejriwal's recent arrest ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. Prominent leaders from the INDIA bloc are expected to participate in the rally.
