Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has called upon the Indian government to adopt a "tit-for-tat" strategy in light of China's recent endeavors to rename areas in Arunachal Pradesh.
Sarma proposed that India retaliate by assigning its own names to 60 "Tibetan areas of China," stressing the need for parity in response.
"My request to the government of India is that we should give 60 geographical names to Tibetan areas of China," Sarma conveyed to reporters.
Highlighting the principle of reciprocity, the Chief Minister remarked, "But I don’t want to comment as it is a policy decision of the government of India. But if they have named 30, we should name 60."

China's announcement of a fourth list containing 30 new names for various locations in Arunachal Pradesh comes amid heightened tensions and Beijing's persistent efforts to assert its claim over the Indian state.
The Ministry of External Affairs swiftly rejected China's attempts to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh, affirming that the state's status as an integral part of India remains unchanged.
The Ministry highlights that the assignment of "invented names" by China does not alter the ground reality.
