Former Chief Minister Chaudhary Bansilal's grandson and granddaughter will be seen competing against each other in the upcoming Haryana assembly polls from the Tosham seat.
Lal’s granddaughter Shruti Choudhry will contest for BJP and his grandson Anirudh Chaudhary is placed against his cousin on a Congress ticket.
Bansilal himself won from the Tosham seat six times and held the post of chief minister four times.
He won the election for the first time in 1967. After this, he won in 1968 and became the Chief Minister.
Tosham assembly constituency comes under Bagar belt which makes it an important seat.
Shruti Choudhry is the daughter of former Congress MLA Kiran Choudhry, who left the party and joined the BJP after the recent Lok Sabha elections to become a Rajya Sabha member.
Whereas, Anirudh Choudhary is responsible for maintaining the supremacy of Congress in the Tosham seat as the party has hold for 67 years.
The mother-daughter duo were part of Congress for 19 years and Kiran has been the MLA from the party four times in 2019, 2014, 2009, and in the by-election of 2005.
Shruti’s father Surinder Singh Choudhary had won election from Bhiwani seat multiple times.
