CM Saini in his rally took a jibe at Congress and said that Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi is not just ‘Mohabbat ki Dukan’ but ‘Jhoothon ki Dukan’ as well.

Despite the challenging landscape, the Indian National Congress is claiming to be in a stronger position than its rivals. Independent observers feel circumstances appear to be favouring the Congress party.

In the recent Lok Sabha elections, the BJP and the Congress won five seats each, which was an indication of the grand old party, Congress’s rising graph in the state where it has been out of power for a decade.

"The Congress means a syndicate of fixers and son-in-law," he said in an apparent reference to controversial land deals involving Congress leader Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra when the party was in power during 2004-14 with Bhupinder Singh Hooda as the chief minister. 

The polling for all the 90 constituencies in Haryana will take place on October 5 from 7 am to 6 pm, Chief Electoral Officer Pankaj Agarwal said.

Chaudhary is a former BCCI treasurer and secretary of the Haryana Cricket Association. His father, Ranbir Singh Mahendra was the president of BCCI.

"The fight is about this. If the Constitution does not remain, then you, the poor, would not have anything. Your land, money, and water will vanish. These will go into the hands of select 20-25 people," he said.

Soon after, Tanwar, who had joined the BJP earlier this year, walked onto the stage and it was announced that "aaj unki ghar vapsi ho gayi ha (today, he has returned to the Congress fold)".

He joined the Congress here in the presence of Partap Singh Bajwa, Leader of Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, the party said in a statement.  Bajwa formally inducted Singh into the party, it added.

There are several other second-generation candidates as well, who are trying their luck in these elections from the mainstream parties. Rough estimates suggest that at least fifty percent of candidates contesting in these elections, irrespective of the parties, have some family link.

According to reports, even before the news of his parole, the Dera Sacha Sauda’s state and block committee members across Haryana started persuading followers to vote as a unified bloc for a particular candidate.
