Renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has crafted a unique sculpture using 500 kg of mangoes at Puri Beach, aiming to inspire voters during the ongoing elections.
Spread across a 2,000 sq ft area, the sculpture features texts in the sand, including 'Chunav ka Parv Desh ka Garv' (Election Festival, Pride of the Nation) and 'Your Vote Your Voice'.
The state of Odisha is polling for six parliamentary constituencies and 42 assembly segments in the sixth phase of the elections.
With the assistance of students from his institute, Pattnaik completed the sand art in approximately five hours.
Taking to social media platform X, Pattnaik shared a video of his creation, highlighting the significance of voter participation.
"This is summer time and mangoes are the favourite of all, so to appeal to electors to vote tomorrow, we used mangoes in our sculpture," Pattnaik stated on Friday.
This isn't Pattnaik's first venture into using sand art for social messaging.
Prior to the third phase, he depicted India's map as ink on a finger, symbolising the act of voting.
The previous art installation about the ongoing elections was a sand sculpture of 100 feet x 40 feet.
That sand art, also on the Puri beach in Odisha, featured 2,000 balls and bowls with the message "Your Vote Your Future".
Sudarsan Pattnaik, a recipient of the 2014 Padma Shri award and various international accolades, notably the Golden Sand Art Award in 2019, continues to leverage his artistic talent for meaningful expressions and societal impact.
