The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has introduced a new initiative called 'NRI4NAMO' to engage non-resident Indians (NRIs) in its campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Under the guidance of BJP National President JP Nadda, this effort is managed by BJP’s Videsh Vibhag, highlighting the crucial role NRIs play in India’s democratic processes.

To facilitate this engagement, the BJP has set up a dedicated hotline, accessible via WhatsApp or mobile at +91 8076707532. This hotline is designed to answer queries, provide necessary information, and help NRIs connect with their respective constituencies to actively participate in the election campaigning for the BJP.

This outreach is part of the party's broader strategy to integrate the global Indian diaspora into its election framework and leverage their support.

Earlier, the BJP's foreign affairs department head, Vijay Chauthaiwale, emphasised the party's global outreach by inviting over 25 foreign political parties to observe the electoral process.

This unprecedented move aims to showcase the BJP's campaign strategies and India's robust democratic ethos to an international audience. Chauthaiwale explained that the campaign involves significant online efforts targeting the diaspora, including extensive social media campaigning and video presentations.

Moreover, the BJP expects a substantial number of international supporters to arrive in India for hands-on participation in the campaigning. Already, over 1000 individuals have registered their intention to travel to India, and many more are anticipated to join.

The party is encouraging these international volunteers to spend at least two weeks in India to experience and contribute to the campaign firsthand.

This outreach coincides with the conclusion of campaigning for the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled to start on April 19 across 102 constituencies in 21 states and Union territories.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are being conducted in seven phases, concluding on June 1, with results announced on June 4. This extensive electoral exercise will determine the composition of the 18th Lok Sabha and shape the political landscape of India for the coming years.
