The Himachal Pradesh BJP has taken a significant step by filing a complaint against the Congress and the Hamirpur Youth Congress Club for what it perceives as character assassination of Kangana Ranaut.
Kangana, a renowned actor and now a BJP Lok Sabha candidate from Mandi, has been at the centre of controversy due to her outspoken views and political affiliations.
The BJP alleges that the Congress, through its various wings, has deliberately portrayed Kangana in a negative light on social media platforms. This portrayal, the BJP claims, includes the use of objectionable language and offensive imagery, thereby violating the Indian Penal Code, the Representation of People Act, and the Model Code of Conduct.
In its complaint to the Election Commission of India (ECI), the BJP asserts that the Congress's actions amount to a deliberate attempt to undermine Kangana's character and integrity.
The party alleges that the Congress has used images from Kangana's films, taken out of context, to depict her in an unfavourable manner. Such actions, the BJP argues, not only disrespect Kangana as an individual but also undermine the dignity of women in general.
The BJP's complaint underscores the need for accountability and responsibility in political discourse, especially during election campaigns. It emphasises that while political rivalry is expected, personal attacks and character assassination have no place in a democratic society.
By urging the ECI to take appropriate legal action, the BJP aims to ensure that such behaviour is curbed and that political debates remain focused on substantive issues rather than resorting to mudslinging and defamation.
Furthermore, the BJP's complaint highlights the broader pattern of behaviour exhibited by the Congress, which it characterises as irresponsible and dangerous.
It points out previous instances where Congress leaders have made derogatory remarks against Kangana, indicating a trend of targeting her based on her political affiliations. The BJP asserts that such behaviour is unacceptable and warrants intervention by the relevant authorities to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
The BJP's complaint against the Congress emphasises the necessity of maintaining civility in political discourse. Urging the Election Commission to address alleged character attacks on Kangana Ranaut, the BJP underscores the importance of ethical standards in public debate.
This incident underscores the responsibility of political parties to engage in constructive dialogue, avoiding personal attacks. By addressing misconduct, the BJP demonstrates commitment to dignity in public life.
