The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a grand celebration following what seems to be a resounding victory in the Lok Sabha elections, with most exit polls projecting a landslide win for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
The celebration, slated to take place at Bharat Mandapam or Kartavya Path over the weekend, is expected to draw a crowd of 8,000-10,000 attendees, as reported by the Indian Express.
As anticipation builds, preparations are underway, including the procurement of decorative indoor and ornamental plants for the swearing-in ceremony of the Prime Minister and other ministers at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
The tender for this supply, valued at ₹21.97 lakh, was issued by the President’s Secretariat on May 28 and is set to open on June 3. The chosen contractor will have five days to fulfill the order.
Meanwhile, arrangements are being made by the Lok Sabha Secretariat for the travel and accommodation of newly-elected MPs in the national capital.
The forthcoming "political" event is expected to feature a captivating sound-and-light show and may even see the presence of foreign dignitaries.
Despite exit polls indicating another dominant win for the BJP, leaders of the Opposition INDIA bloc have dismissed these projections, asserting their confidence in forming the government with a significant seat count.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Champai Soren has expressed optimism, stating, “...INDIA alliance is winning more than 295 seats...there is no truth in exit polls...In Jharkhand also our situation is good. We will win more than 10 seats in Jharkhand."
While the BJP-led NDA is poised to improve its performance in states currently governed by other parties, some exit polls have even suggested the possibility of the alliance surpassing the ambitious "400 paar" target set by BJP leaders in the lead-up to the elections.
